Introduction

Welcome to the VerifAge documentation.

VerifAge is an age-verification service for shops, vending machines and websites that sell age-restricted goods. A customer proves their age once in the VerifAge app; afterwards they only ever show a QR code or a short code. The merchant learns a single fact, verified: true or false, and never receives a name, a birth date or a document.

How it works

  1. The customer installs the app and verifies their age with an identity document or a European digital identity wallet (France Identité and other eIDAS wallets).
  2. VerifAge keeps the verified status on the account; the document itself is not stored.
  3. At the point of sale the customer presents the app. A cashier scans the code, a vending machine reads it, a website shows a request the customer approves in the app.
  4. The merchant receives the answer: verified or not.
